Blogger Spotlight: Yasmin of YASMIN TELLS

Black Bloggers 2016

Introducing Yasmin of YASMIN TELLS...

Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog.

My name is Yasmin, and I’m from the UK, originally from Sierra Leone. I’m an Interior architect and designer who is currently based in Dakar, Senegal. Why there? Other than loving the country’s capital, there is more about that on my blog.

Yasmin Tells is a travel and design focused blog, however that being said it is an outlet for most of my interests and inspiration I come across in music, style and craft as well as the niche focus of travel and design.

When did you start blogging and what motivated you to start?

I began blogging regularly in 2014. I was doing a university placement abroad and thought it was a good platform to share my experience whilst touching base with family and friends back home in the UK.

How has your blog evolved since starting your blogging journey?

My blog has evolved a lot! From name changes to focus points. I believe that blogs need to evolve, it is better to change sooner than later.

Where do you see yourself and your blog in five years’ time?

This is a good question. I would like to think my blog would be more up to scratch in five years. I hope I have more content and more collaboration with other bloggers, artists, brands and designers. I enjoy preparing and reading collaborative posts the most.

Do you have any bloggers you admire and follow yourself?

I like Patricia Bright and Best of D. Those are the two I check the most regularly.

Do you have any advice for bloggers who want to get into travel blogging?

Just start, everything gets easier once you make the decision to go (travel) and to start (blogging). You will appreciate having the content to look back at in years to come.

What are your hopes for the Black British Blogging community?

To be a platform that continues to grow and inspires many. To get bigger, bolder and better!
